Movie review: The Jumper

So it was the girlfriend’s idea to go out on Saturday night and watch a movie. I did not want to because there aren’t any good movies out and we would be saving money by not spending…So 20 minutes later, we are ready to go watch ‘The Jumper’. We first stopped by Quiznos and grabbed ourselves some dinner so we don’t go watching the movie really hungry.

Got our tickets an hour early but since the movie recently came out and its a Saturday night, there was a huge line up just for the movie The Jumper. We got good seats due to being an hour early but if we were even 5 minutes late we’d be sitting first row in the theater.

The Jumper

The movie I think was generally good. The special effects were pretty good and the chosen actors fit the characters quite well. I am thinking I would give the movie a 6/10 or 7/10. I would go watch it again because of the special effects heh.

Anyways here is a brief description of the movie. Basically there are 2 type of people (apart the normal people). The Paladins and The Jumpers. The Jumpers have the ability to teleport and the paladins are like witch hunters. The paladins are trying to destroy the jumpers “because only god should have that power”. One kid grows up with his powers and enjoys his life as he runs away from his beloved ones to find freedom and since he can teleport “why stay in one play when you can have the whole world” he says. This kid has to face many problems, gets to know another Jumper and biggest conflict for him is How to tell the woman of his dream his secret…

Great movie, you’d like it. Check it out its in theatres…now…don’t download it lol. When movies are new people tend to bootleg, what this means is they take a camera to the theater and video tape the movie. This is illegal, wrong, I am not going to stop you as I did this myself but just to let you know the quality of the movies are most of the time bad.

Warning: Possible spoilers ahead.

I’ll just give some more insight of the movie. This movie is based on the book Jumper, and about 2 years ago I read it. They Screwed It Up. I would say they changed more then 60% of the book to make the movie. Their biggest change I would have to say is Adding The Whole Paladin People…like wth…they didn’t exist in the book (or I could be wrong its been a long time) but from what I remember there was no paladins, there was only this high class special agent after this One Jumper (the main guy, there is not ‘The Jumpers’ its ‘The Jumper’).

They changed so much its really really annoying. Like I said I liked the movie just because of the special effects, the plot was ridiculously stupid because of what they have done to it. Another big change, the main character ‘David’’s mother. In the book, it explains that his mother is dead from the begining. She dies in a terrorist attack on an air plane and the guy even FINDS this terrorist near the climax of the movie and kills him…but nothing like that in the movie, in the movie she is alive and she is a paladin.

</Spoilers>

So for those who watched it, what would you rate it? what did you like/hate about the movie.

    Yea it was a great movie, I’m not saying I hated it or dont want to watch it again but it was generally a good movie.
    You will think some of the things they changed from the book is kinda dumb, its not a big change though.
