These two companies are the giants of social networking in North America as well as some other continents. Facebook has lately gained its reputation as a place for “universities” and myspace is myspace… Facebook is really big in Canada, probably the biggest social networking website used. Then there is sites such as Nexopia which only get recognized in certain provinces of Canada. Myspace on the her hand is the biggest deal on countries such as The United States, Australia or United Kingdom (Although U.K favors Facebook majorly as well.)
Here is a graph to show their ranking, click on the image to enlarge it.
Since myspace is more global it is more known around the globe and therefore you can see a big increase in myspace’s population in the graph above.
Here is what I think of both of these websites. I don’t understand it, it is not user friendly. Ofcourse someone who spends time on it and knows how it works will go “what are you talking about, its so easy to figure things out”…No, it isn’t. Both websites have profile options scattered all over the website. Here are the reasons I deslike Myspace.
- What the hell is up with all those ads, seriously. There is ads pretty much everywhere.
- It loads a lot slower, I’ve tested the website in many different internet connections and its still slow.
- Whats up with those profile music?. The idea of allowing CSS into your profile is just wrong. I understand changing the color of your name or adding your own little colorful text is nice but changing the whole thing its just really ugly.
- Did I say ads? More ads
- Their website template is ugly, it looks like it was made in 1999. It’s 2008. According to most web designers, a website should change its design once every 6 months.
And here are the reasons to hate Facebook:
- Wtf is wrong with the Recent Feeds in the main page. I’d like to see the recent feeds that could relate to me. I don’t want to see “Jon has poked her mother, Click here To poke Jon’s Mother”.
- So ‘you have to put our fullname’ and try to avoid the name filters. Again, why would anyone put their Full Name on a website to the world.
- Its full of retards. This is a true Fact Because if you were ‘cool’ wth are you doing on facebook?. Facebook is loaded with retards who have no lives, nothing to do, smoke pot all day and go comment on people’s pictures “Oh I’d tap that”, “Oh baby we should meet”. And the girls are too busy rating each others pictures, which brings another topic.
- Facebook Applications… It is a great tool to allow developers make their own applications But it has gone too far. So I get a message in my recent feeds saying: “Melissa has wrote a testimonial about you, Click Here to read it” So I get all interested and want to read this, I click on the link the page goes to “Do you want to add the testimonial application” No I don’t Dipshit. This goes to everything, Anything you click you need the application for.
- Your information is not safe! I’ve said this before and will say it again. Why are you people so stupid by putting pretty much everything about you on the site. People put their full name, address, phone number(s), school, work info and etc.. Did you know its not hard to view someone’s profile even if they aren’t your friend?. And did you know this information about you gets distributed to higher people such as the government and police departments. So incase you ever do a crime and someone goes “Ya the killer’s name is Navid Nevin I believe”, then the cops can just type Navid Nevin in their database that they got from facebook and boom your going to prison. It has Happened. I am writing this because It happened to someone I know, so everyone think before you let your information out.
Another reason to why they aren’t user friendly is, Lets say one night I get bored and login to facebook to have some fun. I login to facebook and the next question I ask myself is “Now What?”. There is no news to read, there is no updates, there is no improvment, just more of “Your Friend Mike has update their profile click here to see” Who the fuck cares.
